The Columbia Police responded with Adair EMS Thursday night, July 6, after report of potential overdose.

Bobby Morrison and Heather Spoon made a visit to Frankfort last week to visit with state officials involved in economic development. While Morrison said they are still at a place where they cannot talk about specifics, they are very optimistic about the future.

Following the meeting, a hot mic caught comments by the judge laced with profanity, apparently directed at magistrates or county residents.

The Columbia City Council heard first reading of a budget amendment Monday night for the fiscal year ending June 30. Several revenue sources were higher than expected and some were lower, but the city of Columbia expects to end the current fiscal year with $176,762 more revenue than originally budgeted.

A Knifley man who was arrested during a Kentucky State Police checkpoint in January has been busy visiting medical professionals as he struggles to keep his driver’s license. A vote to establish an occupational tax in Adair County narrowly passed during Tuesday night’s fiscal court meeting.  The vote was a first reading for an ordinance to set a .75 – three-fourths of one percent – tax on payroll of people who work within Adair County. The fiscal court did not receive any bids after a request to construct bathrooms at the Jim Blair Center. Daniel Cameron held such a strong lead in Kentucky’s Republican Pri¬mary for governor Tuesday that the Associated Press declared him the winner before the first precinct in Adair County could even be counted.
