Mary Frances Matthews Morrison, 73, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Columbia on June 2, 1951 to the late Jessie George Matthews and Margaret Cook Matthews McQueary.
Mrs. Morrison was a member of the Amazing Grace Church and had a special calling for caring for the elderly. She was formerly active in Adair County Little League, starting and running the concession stand for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, James Michael Morrison of Columbia; a son, James Lynn Morrison of Cincinnati; a daughter, Wendy Janes (Chris) of Columbia; four grandchildren, Brittany, Elliot, Cassidy and Will Morrison; two brothers, Bill Matthews (Regina) and Larry Matthews; and several other friends and relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Dennis McQueary; a brother, David Matthews and his wife Vivian; and a daughter-in-law, Alesha Bryant Morrison.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
Bro. Ralph Foster is officiating and pallbearers will be Will Morrison, Elliot Morrison, Chris Janes, James Morrison, Douchy Matthews and Clinton Matthews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
