Joe N. Collins, 68, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Joe was born on November 30, 1954 in Glasgow to the late Joe Norris Collins, Sr. and Ruth Wilma Jean Jessie Collins.
He was an emergency dispatcher for Adair County from 1993-2015, the current District 7 Constable, holding office since 1993, a co-owner of Coomer Oil Co., an E.M.T. for several years, and a truck driver for Superior Battery Manufacturing Co. Joe was active for many years with Adair Search & Rescue and was a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #96. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gregory Collins
Survivors include his wife, Norma Collins of Columbia; one daughter, Janet Huckaby (Rodney) of Columbia; one sister, Pamela Bailey of Columbia; special friend, Rilda Firkins of Columbia; two grandchildren, Taylor Burton and Remington Huckaby; one great grandchild, Kamree Wilson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.
A masonic service was held Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
