The Tribe started the postseason matches on Thursday, as the girls traveled to Central Hardin to play a team match.
“Our girls went head-to-head with the best program in the 5th Region this afternoon. We dropped the team match 0-5, but all of our ladies competed at a high level,” head coach Wes Stephens summed up the matches, and added that he was “proud of our girls and the grit they showed.”
A day later the boys went to Taylor County to meet another strong team of the region, and lost 0-5.
“It was a tough loss for our boys tonight at Taylor County. The Indians played well in spurts, but it wasn’t enough to come out with the win,” Stephens said.
On Monday the players from Adair finished the season with the 5th Region tournament in Elizabethtown, where they got tough opponents in the first round.
Nevertheless, the doubles Trey Stephens/Alex Perkins, Abby Bullock/Sarai Collins, and Kinzlee Akin/Kylieann Akin proceeded to the second round, where they eventually lost.
“Overall, we had a really good day,” Stephens said. “Our doubles teams took advantage of a good draw in the first round. Our singles players really got a tough draw, especially our boys. Brody Blair had to play the overall #3 seed and Luke Rich played the #4 seed. Carter White and Trenton Page had to play the #3 seed in doubles. The boys had it rough. But I’m proud of all our kids and how they battled. We played some good tennis today.”
